Modern Slavery Statement
This statement is made pursuant to the to the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and sets out the steps the Company has taken to ensure that slavery and human trafficking is not taking place within our business. We acknowledge our responsibility to the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and will ensure transparency.
Vermilion Group Limited is a multinational company with 30 years’ experience in the seafood market supplying to a worldwide customer base from its own process factories in the UK and Bangladesh and procuring raw materials from a network of long established EU approved suppliers.
A major supplier is our own company based in Bangladesh and by direct participation in the management of the business and regular visits during the year we are able to ensure that working and employment practices meet the required standards and this is supported by audit against the Ethical Trade Initiative which is founded on the conventions of the International Labour Organisation and is an internationally recognised code of labour practice.
Vermilion Group Limited recognises that imported produce from outside the UK and EU carries more risk of slavery and trafficking issues and we require our suppliers to commit to ethical trading and employment practices and as part of our initiative our suppliers are required to complete our questionnaire in relation to slavery and human trafficking.
We have zero tolerance of slavery and trafficking and expect all those in our supply chain to comply with our values. It is company policy not to support or deal with any company which is knowingly involved in slavery or trafficking and actively encourage our suppliers to undertake an ethical audit.
We ensure through our HR policies that all employees are treated fairly without discrimination, that pay rates comply with statutory provisions and that employment contracts specify terms and conditions and disciplinary procedures. Employees are encouraged to share any concerns regarding practices within the company and its supply chain. We aim to encourage openness and will support anyone who raises genuine concerns in good faith and are committed to ensuring that no one suffers any detrimental treatment as a result of reporting in good faith any concerns in relation to slavery and trafficking within in own business and our supply chain.
